Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God; For it is pleasant, and praise is beautiful.

Dad's Camp: These are the days memories are made from!

My dad's birthday was in June. He, my mom & Mike went to his camp for a few nights, so Ter, "Bean" and I visited for a day and helped celebrate my dad's birthday! We really love going to my dad's camp because our cell phone don't work there (remember, I think that's a fantastic thing!!)... and it's quiet, peaceful and just a short drive from our house but feels world's away!

When we arrived, "Papa T." had found some newts for "Bean" and had put them in a pail until we got there. He really liked the newts and we all had fun watching them crawl around on the cabin deck for a while - it brought back great memories from when I was a child and my brother & I would catch them every summer!

There was also a nest of baby birds we got to see, which was built into the rafters of the cabin's covered porch.

After a while, Uncle Mike helped "Bean" let the newts go by the edge of the woods. He thought it was fun to watch them crawl away through the tall, wet grass.

Papa took "Bean" for an ATV ride, then he took me (I got covered in mud!!), and Ter (who somehow managed to stay mud-free on his ride).

We ate dinner, had cake and my dad opened his gift(s) from us - one was a t-shirt; a gag-gift. There is an inside joke between us where we always get my dad some kind of gag-gift on his birthday & for Christmas (he gets a "real" gift too!)... my dad started it several years ago when he gave us a piece of campfire wood wrapped in a box - a "Yule Log" he called it after we opened it! Ha! This is his face after he opened his "gift":

We then had a campfire and then headed home... pretty late, in great spirits simply from being with our family, damp from the rain earlier in the day, covered in campfire smoke, and thoroughly tired from playing outside in the fresh air. These are the kinds of days that memories are made from!
