Jesus was in Jerusalem...

"It was winter, and Jesus was in Jerusalem at the time of the Feast of Dedication. He was in the Temple, walking through the section known as Solomon's Colnnade." 

John 10:22-23 NLT

Tonight was the first night of the Feast of Dedication (Hanukkah). We lit our oil lamp and recited a prayer: 

Blessed are you, Lord our God, King of the Universe, who has given to us holidays, customs and seasons for gladness and for the glory of 

Yeshua the Messiah, our Lord, 

the light of the world. 

We remembered that Jesus told us, "I am the light of the world, whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life." 

John 8:12 NIV

We read the story of the Hanukkah as told in the book of Maccabees, which tells of God's miracle of provision, both during battle and when the oil in the Temple lamp lasted long enough for more sanctified oil to be made. The children's book The Story of Hanukkah is an easy read and was suitable for us to share with "I". 

Blessed art Thou O Lord our God, King of the Universe, who performed miracles for our fathers in those days at this season. Thank you, God, for miracles you have provided.
